Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.45%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.45%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura & Co SA (BVMF:NTCO3), which rose 2.59% or 0.37 points to trade at 14.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Petroreconcavo SA (BVMF:RECV3) added 1.83% or 0.33 points to end at 18.38 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF:YDUQ3) was up 1.63% or 0.15 points to 9.37 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:ASAI3), which fell 5.73% or 0.41 points to trade at 6.74 at the close. Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) declined 4.81% or 0.30 points to end at 5.94 and Atacadao SA (BVMF:CRFB3) was down 4.74% or 0.43 points to 8.64.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 626 to 302 and 53 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:ASAI3) fell to all time lows; falling 5.73% or 0.41 to 6.74.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.70% to 28.95 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 7.20 to $2,676.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 5.41% or 3.79 to hit $73.89 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.86% or 2.20 to trade at $254.30 .

USD/BRL was up 0.63% to 5.48, while EUR/BRL rose 0.36% to 6.04.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 101.72.
