Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.77%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.77%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Regional SAB de CV (BMV:RA), which rose 5.79% or 7.03 points to trade at 128.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO) added 5.61% or 2.43 points to end at 45.71 and Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q) was up 4.63% or 7.53 points to 170.24 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which fell 3.08% or 0.66 points to trade at 20.75 at the close. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) declined 2.91% or 1.19 points to end at 39.74 and Kimberly – Clark De Mexico A (BMV:KIMBERA) was down 2.66% or 0.79 points to 28.91.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 164 to 71 and 19 ended unchanged.

Shares in Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) fell to all time lows; falling 3.08% or 0.66 to 20.75. Shares in Alsea, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.91% or 1.19 to 39.74.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.39% or 37.39 to $2,719.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 3.55% or 2.71 to hit $79.08 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.14% or 2.51 to trade at $82.43 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.20% to 20.46, while EUR/MXN fell 0.33% to 21.06.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 108.97.
