Canada stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.13%

Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Energy, Clean Technology and REITs sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were South Bow Corp (TSX:SOBO), which rose 6.33% or 1.93 points to trade at 32.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR) added 3.93% or 0.29 points to end at 7.67 and Badger Infrastructure Solutions Ltd (TSX:BDGI) was up 2.96% or 1.14 points to 39.62 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mattr Corp (TSX:MATR), which fell 10.52% or 1.47 points to trade at 12.51 at the close. Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:AAV) declined 6.09% or 0.60 points to end at 9.25 and Teck Resources Ltd B (TSX:TECKb) was down 4.82% or 3.36 points to 66.33.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 509 to 391 and 106 ended unchanged.

Shares in South Bow Corp (TSX:SOBO) rose to all time highs; rising 6.33% or 1.93 to 32.42. Shares in Mattr Corp (TSX:MATR) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.52% or 1.47 to 12.51.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.37% to 10.71.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.99% or 26.50 to $2,639.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 4.36% or 3.36 to hit $73.78 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.30% or 3.48 to trade at $77.45 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.24% to 0.67.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 102.23.
