Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.55%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.55% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA), which rose 3.83% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Crete Plastics SA (AT:PLAKR) added 3.45% or 0.50 points to end at 15.00 and Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) was up 2.94% or 0.80 points to 28.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which fell 2.37% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.37 at the close. Quality and Reliability SA (AT:QUAr) declined 1.77% or 0.02 points to end at 1.22 and Dimand Societe Anonyme for Real Estate Constructions (AT:DIMANDr) was down 1.47% or 0.14 points to 9.39.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 65 to 52 and 27 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 5.60 to $2,682.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.37% or 0.98 to hit $70.58 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.75 to trade at $73.72 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 100.30.
