Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.01%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.01%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO), which rose 4.63% or 0.35 points to trade at 7.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) added 3.56% or 6.36 points to end at 184.95 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) was up 3.46% or 0.82 points to 24.52 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which fell 2.21% or 0.50 points to trade at 22.12 at the close. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA) declined 1.79% or 5.65 points to end at 310.00 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) was down 1.53% or 2.19 points to 140.75.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 114 to 108 and 16 ended unchanged.

Shares in Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) fell to all time lows; losing 2.21% or 0.50 to 22.12.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.67% or 17.61 to $2,665.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.02% or 0.75 to hit $74.31 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.78 to trade at $77.08 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 20.31, while EUR/MXN fell 0.39% to 21.01.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 108.50.
