Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.40%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.40%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA), which rose 6.67% or 1.16 points to trade at 18.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO) added 6.51% or 2.66 points to end at 43.50 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV:GFINBURO) was up 3.66% or 1.66 points to 47.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO), which fell 5.11% or 0.43 points to trade at 7.98 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) declined 4.26% or 13.03 points to end at 292.55 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) was down 3.19% or 0.84 points to 25.46.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 129 to 100 and 16 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 3.14% or 85.90 to $2,651.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.03% or 2.16 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.71% or 2.02 to trade at $72.61 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.60% to 20.28, while EUR/MXN fell 0.37% to 21.28.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 106.86.
